IOWA CITY - The Iowa City man charged with killing his neighbor over a chess match has been transferred from the Johnson County jail following an incident inside the jail.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office says the same day David Christian made his initial court appearance to face second degree murder charges for allegedly choking Michael Steward with his legs, there was an incident inside the jail that prompted authorities to transport Christian to the University of Iowa Hospital.
Court documents released Wednesday suggest Christian's attorney believes jail activity logs and video images may help his client.
A full investigation is underway regarding the jail incident. We'll bring you more details when they are made available.
The Sheriff would not confirm Christian's whereabouts or medical condition. But we do know that Christian is still in custody.
