Trial Delayed in Iowa City Chess Game Death

IOWA CITY (AP) - The trial of an Iowa City man accused of killing his neighbor over a game of chess has been delayed.

David Christian is charged with second-degree murder in the Oct. 19 death of Michael Steward.

Christian's trial was set for May 18. His attorney, Peter Persaud, says the trial will be scheduled for later. A new date has not been set.

Police say the two men got into a fight while playing chess at Christian's home.

According to court documents, Christian forced Steward's head between his legs and applied pressure until Steward was unresponsive and later died.
